To kickoff the Second Annual Oshkosh Oktoberfest, we have a Tapping of the Oktoberfest Beer Keg ceremony. Everyone arriving before 5:00 on Friday will receive a coupon for a free drink as a thank you from our sponsors! Let's kickoff the Fest in proper Oktoberfest style!

Children's Crafts and Games
There will be lots of fun things for children to do at Oshkosh Oktoberfest including making German Hair "Flower Crowns", Painting Pumpkins, Painting Candlesticks, Making German Christmas Ornaments, and playing in our Inflatable Castle Bounce.

Oktoberfest 2K Bier Run and Costume Contest
Oktoberfest 2K Registration Form
Oshkosh Oktoberfest 2K will be a beer run/walk through and around the Leach Amphitheater for a total of 2 kilometers or 1.25 miles. We encourage everyone to dress in costume (preferably German, but definitely tasteful). Please note, anyone sporting obscene or offensive costumes will be ejected from the park - this is a family-friendly fest. Over $500 in prizes will be awarded for the best costumes, in both individual and group categories, and door prizes will be given away all day. Participants will make the loop twice and have four beer stops. All participants MUST be over 21 and have proper identification showing proof of age. Each person will receive a commemorative Oshkosh Oktoberfest beer stein and entrance to the festival for only $15 dollars in advance or $20 day of the run. The Oktoberfest 2K Bier Run starts at 11:30 a.m. (Registration at 10:30 a.m.) Saturday, October 1st. Save money and register in advance online or at Run Away Shoes.

Dachshund Races "Doxie Dash"
For a second year we will host the running of the wieners. Dachshunds only are allowed access to the park and encouraged to compete. We are also very pleased that the area Dachshund rescue organization will join us during the weekend. Race starts 3:00 on Saturday October 1st. There is no charge to enter your dog, but donations to the Midwest Dachshund Rescue is encouraged and appreciated. Register your dog at the race tent.

Sheepshead Games
Sheepshead or Sheephead is a trick-taking card game related to the Skat family of games. It is the Americanized version of a card game which originated in Central Europe in the late 18th century under the German name Schafkopf. Although Schafkopf literally means "sheepshead", the term may have been derived from Middle High German and referred to playing cards on an overturned barrel (from kopfen, meaning playing cards, and Schaff, meaning a barrel). In the United States, Sheepshead is commonly played here in Wisconsin verses anywhere else in the U.S., due to our large German-American population. Please join us inside the Cultural Tent for some fun games.

Oktoberfest Olympics
On Saturday, you will have the opportunity to compete in our first-ever Oshkosh Oktoberfest Olympics. Several different competitive games, including our Barrel Rolling contest, Masskrugstemmen (Beer Stein Holding) contest, Cheese Toss contest, Stein Relay races, and Fraulein Carrying races. Tuba Dan will even host a Cookie Toss on Sunday. All for great fun and also a chance to win some great prizes. For the Masskrugstemmen, participants will line up and hold steins full of beer in their hands with their arm fully extended and parallel to the ground. The person who can hold the stein up the longest wins. We'll have a men's and a women's stein holding tournament.

Football
We will of course have TVs on site to keep up with the Badger and Packer games!

Raffle
Cerebral Palsy of Mideast Wisconsin is running a raffle as part of Oshkosh Oktoberfest. All proceeds benefit the CP charity. Tickets are only $5 each or 5 for $20 and can be purchased at the CP office or during the festival. Need not be present to win. Drawing will be held on Sunday afternoon and participants can win a Black Forrest Cuckoo Clock handcrafted in Germany and many other great prizes.

Polka Mass
At 10:30 am on Sunday morning, Fr. Bill Hower will celebrate a Polka Mass with the Maroszek Brothers playing. Everyone attending the mass will have free admission to the festival.
